Psychotherapy

I have extensive training in psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families and am currently a psychoanalytic candidate at the NYU Postdoctoral Program for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. As a psychiatrist also trained in therapy, I see many people either for therapy alone or in combination with medications. My therapeutic approach is eclectic and informed by training in various modalities. I have an integrative approach and often incorporate psychodynamic treatment with cognitive behavioral and/or internal family systems approaches. I offer different types of psychotherapy including, but not limited to, play therapy for kids, traditional talk therapy, couples and family work, as well as shorter-term behavioral treatments. Regardless of the approach or type of treatment, I will always spend time do get to know who you are and what your life story is.

Medication Management

I have robust training in psychopharmacology and provide medication management for patients. I see people for medication in various capacities. For some people, I combine medication with psychotherapy. I also prescribe medications to people who have a therapist whom they see separately. Regardless of the type of work that we do together, I believe that in order to prescribe effectively, I need to learn about who you are. As such, I spend more time with my patients and ensure that I collaborate closely with your therapist, primary care provider, school and/or family members whenever needed. While I believe that medications can often be extremely helpful, I take a conservative approach to prescribing and prioritize careful diagnostic evaluation informed by your life story, prior history, biologic risk factors, medical issues, and cultural identity along with your current symptoms to make an effective and collaborative decision about medications.
